THE Retreat for Pets was founded by a passionate pet lover who wanted to create an enjoyable and personalized experience for every pet while their families are away. Our founder has over 20 years of experience working with various animals in both shelter environments and as a personal pet care provider to families.  With advanced animal handling skills, he has been a mentor and trainer to volunteers and is trained in leading dog play groups, administering vaccines and medications, assessing behavior and writing facility policies and procedures. As a caregiver to dogs, cats, parrots, turtles, bearded dragons, ferrets, chickens, and the list goes on, she has not met a breed or species that she does not LOVE.

THE Retreat for Pets is dedicated to providing inclusive care where animals that might not do well in traditional facilities, have the chance to be accepted and have itineraries created for them that accounts for their needs and where they can thrive.  Our philosophy is that pet staycations should be like vacations, too.  No longer do families have to pass on taking vacations for fear that there is no place that they will do well in. We believe that every pet deserves to be treated with love, care, and respect, and we strive to make sure that every pet feels at home while in our care.  THE Retreat does not discriminate based on breed or species, under-socialized personalities or if they need a bit more work on their behavior or otherwise do not do well in traditional kenneling environments. Our team is made up of experienced and dedicated pet care professionals who have over 20 years' experience working in and training volunteers in complex city shelters while also conducting training, doggy play groups and providing care to animals with medical conditions.  We are committed to providing the highest quality of care for your pets.
